Harmful to the brain violent video games
At times, video games, especially those with violent,
have been targeted ... special or not, side effects can have on the development of young people both in physical and psychological and addiction. Today, scientific research is to confirm some of these claims.
During this year's conference of the Radiological Society of North America, the results of research in which an attempt was made to ascertain the effects of violent video games on brain function using MRI. According to the survey findings, there were visible differences in brain function between young people playing video games and others not engaged in this activity.
The survey was conducted among 22 young men, while outside the magnetic resonance images were used and verbal psychological tests and exercises logic. Participants were divided into two groups with one playing videogames «shoot 'em up» for a total of 10 hours during one week, while another abstained activity. After one week, players of the videogame, showed less active brain function in certain brain regions after having been examined with MRI.
Dr. Yang Wang, research professor in the medical faculty of Indiana University said in the journal Medical News Today: «For the first time, we have findings showing that a group of young adults from a random sample had poorer brain function in some forward areas of the brain after one week, domestic violent video games. These brain regions are important for controlling emotions and aggressive behavior, "explains the scientist. "Our findings show that the videogame scenes of violence have long term effects on brain function," he says.
Concerns exist, however, among researchers during learning any new activity, induced changes in brain function, which is also visible in the MRI examination. Thus, the investigation can not prove beyond reasonable certainty that the use of violent games is responsible for changes in behavior.
Noting that this is the first scientific evidence that shows that the videogame have visible effects on brain function. However it remains to determine whether the observed change in brain function of the team that played video games due to learning and acquiring new skills, which are known to happen when playing videogame.
